What Makes IVC Different?

  • Our Philosophy
  • Personalized Feedback
  • The IVC Community

IVC is for both beginners and experts. You newbies can learn how to use your voice effectively and creatively, no matter what profession you're in. If you already use your voice for a living, we're here to nurture your talent and keep you up to date with information that can help grow your career.

Just as important, we want you to have fun while you're on that journey. It's a fact that people absorb and retain information more completely and permanently when they're having fun. So we based IVC on this creative way of learning. You know, "build it and they will come…and laugh."

    IVC'S Philosophy

To succeed at voiceover, artists need 3 essential ingredients: A vibrant, unbridled and intuitive sense of play, availability to work, and training, both initial and ongoing. You may be surprised to find that "a great voice" is not on the list. The other surprise is that "play" is.

Do you still play? IVC believes that the best actors actually want to get down in the sandbox with the other kids and dig, get dirty, and while away the hours! They play like kids do!

Adults who can't remember how to play have lost something very powerful. Play, the unstoppable desire to experience, to create and to imagine, can be the very energy that will drive your career. But even seasoned, experienced actors waste time and energy worrying about what others think of them instead of giving themselves completely to a script. They race to criticize their performance before anyone else can.

And that makes it impossible to play. Why? Because it's impossible to worry and play at the same time. So what's it going to be? Play, and slay them with your wild imagination, or listen to some judgmental internal monologue?

Play breathes life into the words you are reading. Play frees you (the performer) and helps you lift copy off the page -- which convinces listeners that they are not being read to, but are participating in something real. Not an easy task…but that's why there's money in them thar voiceover hills….

Even if you are a little rusty at playing like a kid, it doesn't mean you can't rekindle your skills. It takes the right environment to cultivate and recapture that childlike sense of play. Internet Voice Coach is that sort of environment, and we're here to get you in touch with the lost art of "play."

    Personalized Feedback

Internet Voice Coach values teaching that recognizes a student's strengths and helps him or her overcome challenges. And that's why communication is 2-way at IVC. It's like having your own coach on speed dial, ready to advise you. We offer feedback in several forms.

  • Audio Sample Evaluations

Upload your demo reel, an audition approach you're considering, even your latest commercial. Within a day, you'll get our reaction, with both positive and negative reinforcement that's always constructive

  • Audition Contests.

Every month a new script is posted, and members compete to win prizes and bragging rights. The only thing better would be fame and fortune…but who knows, that may even follow!

  • Forum

Here's where you interact with your peers. Information, anecdotes and advice are only a click away in our lively Forum department.

  • Private Lessons

    The IVC Community

Internet Voice Coach has assembled a remarkable line-up of artists and business professionals who teach with insight and humor. While they're putting a smile on your face, they'll share their experience and knowledge of the voice industry. Your teachers will include fellow voice talent, producers, agents, casting directors, even entertainment tax specialists!

Every month, IVC features a different in-depth interview with an industry insider. Veterans, whose knowledge of the business and insight into current industry trends, can help you make more informed decisions about your voiceover career.

We welcome you to become a part of our thriving community. Who knows…maybe you'll be sharing your own tips, insights and war stories before long. Not to mention your childlike ability to get your self dirty and play with the best of them!
