The Doug Honorof Interview
David Rosenthal with Doug Honorof
Once a year Doug Honorof comes out west to teach at VoiceOne and, luckily, we were able to nab him for a fun and informative interview. As a voice and speech trainer, Doug has lectured and coached at top institutes including Yale School of Drama and Tisch/NYU. He's also worked with many top screen and Broadway stars. If you've ever thought about adding dialects and accents to your repertoire, this is the man you want to listen to.
Part 1: Can anyone learn an accent or dialect?
Part 2: How do you begin the process of working on a dialect? Is learning an accent analytic, intuitive, or both?
Part 3: Can someone get work by approximating an accent?
Part 4: Are some accents harder than others? And the importance of improv!
Here's a link to Doug's VO demo.
