Industry Interview with Bay Area Talent Agent Mary Tonry

Mary Tonry is a no-nonsense talent agent who calls it like she sees it. She's been representing voice and camera talent in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 25 years and knows exactly what it is she's looking for when it comes to voice talent. She's got tips on certain things to avoid, as well as insight on where the industry is heading.




In the first part, Mary talks about what goes into her selection when choosing new voice talent to represent. She also talks about how the voiceover market has changed over time and what is being sought after now.

In this section, David and Mary talk about talent responsibilities, marketing and thing to avoid when spreading the word about yourself.


Lastly, Mary talks about why she rejects certain prospective talent and what to expect if you get the call from an agent.

I enjoyed listening to this interview with Mary Tonry. It's helpful to know the particulars of what constitutes being professional & what she is looking for (i.e. script interpretation skills, etc).
