Welcome Beginners!

Printer-Friendly Format

As a beginner in the voiceover industry, there is a lot of information to learn, absorb and apply in order to develop and, with a little time, perfect your craft. The more information you have, the better prepared you'll be to get work in this field.

We suggest beginning your search at the "Getting Started in V/O" department, where you'll find information on how to get into the V/O industry, steps to take and avoid, as well as specifics about microphone placement, finding an agent, etc.

Voiceover Beginners

To learn more about some of the other great aspects of voiceover work, please visit the following departments: "Commercial Voiceover," "Narration Voiceover" and "Animation Voiceover" departments.

Keeping a focused mind and a healthy voice is extremely important, too, no matter what level of skill you have. Any good voiceover artist will tell you the same. Therefore, we strongly recommend you look at the "Voice Health: Mind and Body" department.

Voice Health: Mind and Body

If you're coming from another industry (sales and marketing, perhaps?) with the idea that you want to try your hand at voiceover, fantastic! But that doesn't mean that you can't get better at what you already do. There's a lot of great advice on how to get the maximum benefit from your voice and your personality in the Public Speaking & More Dept.

Public Speaking & More

Of course, you're welcome to look at any and all departments on the site - these are just suggestions for getting you started. Remember you can always post a question in the Forum where the whole IVC community can can chime in and benefit from the information.
